Hello from our new Manager

My name is Amy Jacklin and I have recently become the new manager of Ramsey Preschool. I have a BTEC Teaching Assistant qualification and an NVQ level 3 in Early Years I am also planning to move onto a degree in Early Years Foundation Stage.  I am hoping to bring some fresh new ideas and to work closely with staff to achieve a fun and positive learning environment for all of our children. I am really enjoying getting to know the children staff and parents and am always available for advice or to answer any questions.

Open Afternoon

Our open afternoon for prospective parents and children was a great success on Thursday 4th July. We gave out balloons to pre-school aged children outside Spinning Infants and Ramsey Juniors (and a few older children who asked very nicely!), served yummy muffins and Jen, our fundraiser and parent helper, did some fantastic face-painting! We had a tiger, butterflies, ladybirds, flowers and some beautiful rainbow faces. While the children were enjoying themselves, we had time to tell everyone about our exciting plans for the pre-school as we are aiming to move to a new building in the Autumn term. There's still time to sign your child up for Ramsey Pre-school starting in September so give us a ring or pop along before the end of term.

We are currently recruiting for qualified staff who would like to work flexibly so please get in touch if you're interested in working for a progressive pre-school and helping us to achieve our aims.

Sadly, we are saying goodbye and good luck to Mrs Linda Moule who is leaving at the end of term to move to a new area, and Mrs Pat Morgan who has been our pre-school leader for 25 years.

The parents of children at Ramsey Pre-school came up trumps recently when they baked dozens of yummy cakes for us to sell at Ramsey Spinning Infants Summer Fair. Committee members Kelly and Cheryl ran our stall and sold out - we made an amazing £53 which will go towards things that the staff think will benefit the children. We also made £27 on our 'dress up in your pyjamas' day organised by Carly and Jen. We're also hoping our recent school photos will raise valuable funds as well. We couldn't do this without our brilliant fundraisers and all the parents who support us!

Wind Farm Grant

Thanks to all our parents who signed our letters in support of Ramsey Wind Farm's planning application for four new turbines. The Wind Farm promised to release a large community fund with Ramsey Pre-school as the first beneficiary. We petitioned local Councillors to support the plans and our Vice Chair, Cheryl spoke at the planning committee meeting at the Council offices in Huntingdon with a big scary timer flashing away! Thanks to all the local support, the committee agreed and we will therefore get £25,000 towards our plans to move to a new building and achieve Outstanding status.

In June, our fundraising team of Carly and Jen organised sunflower planting. All the children who wanted to participate paid £1 to plant a sunflower which they can look after at pre-school and take home at the end of term. We raised £18! All of our fundraising activities raise money for things that will directly benefit the children.

The Ramsey Million

Our Chair, Carol entered us into the first stage of bidding for small grants from the Ramsey Million. We are pleased to announce we have been awarded £222.49 for a new sandpit with cover, and high visibility tabards for the children. We've already made good use of the tabards on our visit to Ramsey Police Station and Ramsey Library.
